what types of programmes does indigo distribute?
We will consider programmes on any subject, and made for any media. Being independent we evaluate each project on its own merits. We choose projects that we feel have potential in the international market and help manage producer's expectations. We are of course a commercial entity so we are looking for exciting projects with universal appeal that we can market all over the world. Can you grab our attention with one line?!
which rights does Indigo handle?
We distribute worldwide and to all media including all television channels, DVD Licensees, VOD partners and new media - including internet and mobile.
does Indigo have a merchandising arm?
Not yet - but we do often pick up these rights as we have partners and affiliates with whom we work closely.
does Indigo distribute films theatrically?
Many of the films that Indigo distributes are released theatrically. However, Indigo is not a theatrical releasing company - but we have a very strong affiliate in the USA who specializes in global theatrical distribution, as well as an associate for domestic release here in the UK.
does Indigo distribute short formats?
We will look at all content of any length and any genre. We have a strong association with icewhole.com and are expanding our portfolio in 2009 to incorporate short form for multimedia exploitation.
at what stage of a production do you prefer to get involved?
As early as possible. Once the financing is in place, we can assist producers in making the most marketable programme possible. We can assist as much as is required and subject to the type of arrangement we have with a producer e.g. in casting, story and production decisions.
how does Indigo look after my programme?
We prepare all of the marketing materials needed to launch and sell the programme, devising a marketing strategy in-house in association with the rights owner. We then launch and sell the programme within the parameters of our distribution agreement. Our sales campaigns are usually focused on the television markets that we attend, including Cannes, AFM, MIFED, MIPCOM, MIPCOM-JUNIOR MIPTV, MIPDOC, ATF and NATPE. We present the programme to buyers, negotiate license fees and contracts, collect payments and deliver the materials to the buyer.
how do I know that Indigo will maximise the revenue from my programme?
Our ethos has always been to promote the producer and its content. We are partners in your business and work to promote your brand and not our own. To that end we do not have a catalogue, thus ensuring our producers and their properties remain separate entities, the productions are not rolled out for one market and then forgotten in the back of a catalogue. Instead each title is constantly reviewed for new marketing angles and reoffered to channels. Many of our programmes in our catalogue have been with us since inception and sell as well today as they did on first launch (occasionally better!). We will not take on two properties that are too similar to one another - this is particularly important when it comes to kids and factual content. There is enough competition in the market place without adding to it within our own programming slate. Finally, we are absolutely transparent about costs. Each programme is negotiated and represented individually and the terms of representation from one producer to the next, or even one title to the next (from the same producer) will not necessarily be the same, but you will know exactly what deductions to expect on your royalty statements.
